Core team
Manager: Jo Stallard
Jo has worked with young people in the voluntary and statutory sectors since 1995. She has delivered and managed a range of services for young people living in Cardiff, the West Midlands and more recently Bristol. Becoming a nationally qualified Youth and Community Worker in 1997 she has since enjoyed working in a variety of settings: outreach work with vulnerable young people on the city centre streets of Cardiff; Pupil Referral Units, working with young people at risk of exclusion from school; centre-based youth work, managing a busy youth club; managing a range of projects focusing on 'young people's rights' and 'youth volunteering'.
Jo grew up in east Bristol and after sixteen years away from 'home' she is pleased to be back and contributing to the delivery of high quality services for young people. She is particularly passionate about ensuring young people 'have their say' about issues they believe are important to them, and supporting them to generate the confidence they need to make sure their voices are heard and listened to.
Jo has been the Manager of Bread since April 2006. "I discovered Bread Youth Project as a youth work student, in the mid '90s. To now be a part of an organisation which has a long history and reputation for developing and delivering innovation, high quality work with and for young people is exciting, challenging and extremely satisfying!"
Finance Officer: Brendan Hanley
Brendan looks after the finances of Bread. He started working for Bread in the summer of 2006, attracted by the chance to support Bread's youth work with its ability to change lives for the better, and by the opportunity of making a difference in a small, ethical organisation. Previously, he worked in the busy finance office of BBC Casualty for two years, did a turn in a firm of accountants, then specialised in cost and performance reporting for Lloyds TSB.
He became a Chartered Certified Accountant in January 2008. Brendan's free-time activities include going to the cinema, hiking, cycling, and caving.
Administrator: Andrea Grant
Andrea started working for Bread in September 2007. Previously, she has worked in human resources for a housing association and also a very busy finance office for a drug treatment programme. She heard about the many different projects managed by Bread many years ago through friends involved in youth work and jumped at the chance to join this small, ethical organisation. Her hobbies include going to the cinema and looking after a family.
Juicy
Project Manager: Emma Rigby
Emma joined the Bread team in August 2007 as Project Manager of Juicy Blitz. Prior to this Emma worked for Avon Youth Association, developing a Peer Education through the Arts project & then co-ordinating the Bristol Youth Bus Project for 4 years. Emma has worked in numerous settings as a play & youth worker since 2001. She completed a Dip HE in Informal & Community Education at the YMCA George Williams College in June 2006.
Having completed a BA Hons In Fine Art in Bristol in 1998 Emma particularly enjoys developing youth & community art projects.
Youth Worker: Becky Hussey
Becky has been working at bread youth project as a youth worker since 2004. Before becoming a youth worker she spent three years as a young volunteer on the sexual health peer education project as a peer educator.
Whilst volunteering at Bread Becky also worked full time as a play worker at a city farm in Bedminster where she worked for 10 years. During that time she took on many different roles within the farm. She spent 2 years doing her NVQ level 2 and 3 qualifications in agriculture.
Working on the farm Becky spent a lot time with and supporting young volunteers and ran a young farms group every Saturday. She was also part of the youth advisory committee for city farms and community gardens across the UK.
